Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are a way of protecting broken down or weakened teeth to try and give that tooth the best life possible. There are several different types of crown and they are made from a range of materials. Crown types include straight porcelain (ceramic) crowns, porcelain fused to metal crowns and gold alloy crowns. We recommend dental crowns for teeth that are heavily filled or teeth that have broken down to a point where a standard dental restoration will not protect the tooth well enough. In most cases where a back tooth has been root filled we recommend the placement of a protective crown as root filled teeth get considerably weaker with time. Each tooth needing a crown is unique and your dentist will discuss the type of crown that suits you best. City Dentists have all crowns for their patients constructed in New Zealand to maintain the best possible standards for their patients.
